Achimota School has booked a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after recording a commanding victory over Adisadel College and Boa Amponsem Senior High School.
The Motown boys finished the quarter-final contest with 55 points, well ahead of Adisadel College on 28 points and Boa Amponsem SHS on 23 points.
The contest began closely, with Achimota taking a narrow lead in Round One with 15 points, just one point ahead of Adisadel College on 14, while Boa Amponsem SHS had eight points.
Achimota began to pull away in Round Two, increasing its tally to 25 points. Adisadel followed with 18 points, while Boa Amponsem had 13.
The Problem of the Day proved decisive for Achimota, who scored an impressive eight out of 10 marks. Adisadel College and Boa Amponsem SHS both recorded zero.
That performance helped Achimota extend its lead to 33 points at the end of Round Three, compared with Adisadel’s 18 and Boa Amponsem’s 13.
Achimota further tightened its grip on the contest in Round Four, racing to 49 points, while Adisadel and Boa Amponsem moved to 25 and 20 points respectively.
The school maintained its dominance in the final round to finish with 55 points, securing the semi-final ticket by a 27-point margin over second-placed Adisadel College.
Adisadel ended its 2026 NSMQ campaign with 28 points, while Boa Amponsem SHS finished with 23 points.
The victory sends Achimota School into the semi-finals as the competition for the 2026 NSMQ title enters its decisive stages.
