Detective Sergeant Modestus Amevor, a criminal investigator with the Ghana Police Service and an author, has been called to the Ghana Bar, marking a new milestone in his professional career.
He was among more than 1,500 newly qualified lawyers called to the Bar on Friday, October 9, 2026, at a ceremony held at the ICGC Christ Temple East in Teshie, Accra.
D/Sgt Amevor, who is known for his work in criminal investigations, is the author of Criminal Investigation in Ghana: Practice and Procedure, among other publications.
In a Facebook post following the ceremony, he reflected on the challenges he encountered throughout his legal education, describing the journey as long and demanding.
He, however, indicated that the knowledge acquired and experience gained throughout the process made the sacrifices worthwhile.
His achievement has also attracted congratulations from the Anlo Secondary School Old Students Association (ANSSOSA Global), which celebrated the new lawyer in posts shared on Facebook and TikTok.
The Association expressed pride in his achievement, recognising him as one of its former students making progress in their professional careers.
D/Sgt Amevor is a member of the 2007 graduating year group of Anlo Secondary School, where he completed his secondary education.
Before attending Anlo Secondary School, he studied at Kedzi A.M.E. Zion Basic School in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, completing his basic education in 2004.
He subsequently pursued a Bachelor of Science in Administration at the University of Ghana before obtaining a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Law School.
He later gained admission to the Ghana School of Law, Makola, where he undertook his professional legal training and obtained the Barrister-at-Law (BL) qualification.
His admission to the Ghana Bar adds a legal qualification to his experience in criminal investigations and authorship, bringing together his professional background in law enforcement and formal legal education.
