The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to promoting equitable and inclusive education during a meeting with Gilles Fagninou in Accra.
Focus on SDGs and Education Challenges
Mr Iddrisu said Ghana is implementing strategic measures to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in education, while acknowledging ongoing challenges such as unequal access and gender gaps.
Key Interventions Highlighted
The Minister outlined key interventions, including the provision of sanitary pads to schoolgirls, efforts to strengthen foundational learning, and the expansion of digital and skills-based education.
UNICEF Commends Ghana
Mr Fagninou praised Ghana’s progress in expanding access to basic education and described the country as a strong advocate for education as a fundamental right.
He also reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to supporting education reforms in Ghana.
Call for Stronger Collaboration
Mr Iddrisu expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s continued support and called for stronger cooperation to improve learning outcomes, particularly in deprived communities.
