A Ghanaian scholar, Rev. Dr Grace Sintim Adasi, has won the 2026 International Centre for the Sociology of Religion (ICSOR) Grant Award after earning a perfect score of 10 with her research project, “Digital Pulpits: Ghanaian Women as Online Evangelists and Faith Influencers Shaping Theology and Moral Discourse”
The award places her at the top of a competitive global process and highlights growing international interest in how religion, gender and digital media intersect in contemporary society.
According to the results released by ICSOR on May 24, 2026, Rev. Dr Adasi emerged as the highest-scoring applicant in the competition.
Her award-winning research examines how Ghanaian women are using social media and other digital platforms to shape Christian ministry, influence faith communities and redefine religious authority in the digital age.
The study focuses on the changing role of women in online evangelism and how digital spaces are becoming new platforms for spiritual leadership, theology and moral discussion.
Rev. Dr Adasi is a minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana.
Over the years, she has built a strong reputation in the fields of religion, gender and society, combining academic work with ministry and public engagement.
Her research has explored African Christianity, spirituality, culture, women’s leadership, indigenous religion and social transformation.
She is also the author of Gender and Change: Roles and Challenges of Ordained Women Ministers in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, a book widely referenced in discussions on women’s leadership in Christian ministry.
In addition to her academic publications, Rev. Dr Adasi has secured several international research grants and presented papers at conferences and scholarly gatherings around the world.
Her latest award is expected to further strengthen Ghana’s visibility in global academic research, particularly in the study of religion, gender and digital culture.
