Three new communication vans have been commissioned for the Information Services Department (ISD) in the Volta Region to improve public education, fight misinformation and expand access to government information.
The commissioning took place at the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council, where the vans were assigned to serve the central, northern and southern parts of the region.
The first van, designated for the Central Zone, will be based in Ho and will serve Ho, Ho West, Adaklu, Agotime-Ziope, Central Tongu, South Tongu and North Tongu.
The second van will be stationed at Kpando to serve the Northern Zone, covering Kpando, Hohoe, Afadzato South, South Dayi and North Dayi.
The third van will be based at Ketu South to serve the Southern Zone, reaching Ketu South, Ketu North, Akatsi South, Akatsi North, Keta and Anloga.
Speaking at the event, the commissioning authority said the vans would help bring government policies and public education closer to the people.
“These vans will help bridge the information gap, fight misinformation, and take government policies directly to our people,” he said.
In addition to the vehicles, the department also received 19 desktop computers, one laptop and 19 routers to improve digital connectivity and support its work across the region.
The official expressed appreciation to the government and to Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Domi and his team for their support in securing the equipment.
He also called for proper maintenance of the new assets to ensure they serve the region effectively.
The intervention is expected to strengthen the work of the Information Services Department in community outreach, public education and communication across the Volta Region.
