The Cyber Security Authority (CSA), in collaboration with Vice-Chancellors Ghana (VCG) and the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), has organised a capacity-building workshop for Vice-Chancellors of public universities in Accra.
The workshop forms part of efforts to strengthen cybersecurity leadership and resilience within Ghana’s tertiary education sector.
Participants were taken through emerging cyber threats affecting educational institutions, as well as key vulnerabilities identified by the CSA within the sector. The training also covered cybersecurity governance frameworks and regulatory obligations, aimed at improving institutional preparedness and response.
As part of the broader initiative, a specialised technical session was organised for IT Directors and Cybersecurity Leads from tertiary institutions.
During this session, participants were trained in vulnerability management practices, including the use of vulnerability scanning and monitoring tools to identify, assess and address security weaknesses in university networks and digital systems.
The initiative is expected to enhance the capacity of university leadership and technical teams to protect digital infrastructure and safeguard sensitive academic and institutional data.
