The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested three former students of Hohoe E.P. Senior High School for allegedly destroying school property after completing their final examinations.
The arrests follow the circulation of a viral video showing some past students vandalising parts of the school’s infrastructure shortly after writing the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to a police statement issued on June 23, 2026, school authorities reported that about five former students unlawfully damaged the school’s water pipeline system before leaving campus.
The police subsequently launched intelligence-led surveillance and arrested three suspects identified as Rashid Suraj Dakpo (19), Alhassan Mohammed (20), and Abdul Kadri Abdulai (20).
The suspects have been handed over to the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with investigations and are expected to face prosecution.
The Police Command noted that such acts of vandalism by students are becoming increasingly common and warned that offenders will face the full rigours of the law.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects captured in the video.
The Command has also urged parents, guardians and teachers to educate students on the consequences of such actions and promote responsible behaviour, especially after examinations.
The arrests come amid growing concern over incidents of property destruction in some Senior High Schools following final examinations, with authorities intensifying efforts to clamp down on the practice.
