Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has urged young people to reject hooliganism, violence, substance abuse, and other negative behaviours, stressing that Ghana’s future depends on a generation guided by discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism.
Speaking at the Pre-African Union Day National Cadet Youth Wreath-Laying Ceremony in Accra, Dr. Apaak said the nation’s development and stability require responsible young citizens who are committed to positive values and national service.
“The future of Ghana must be built on discipline, honesty, hard work, and patriotism,” he stated.
The Deputy Minister commended the National Cadet Corps for its role in nurturing disciplined, responsible, and service-oriented young people through leadership training and civic engagement.
He noted that the organisation continues to make significant contributions to national development by instilling values of responsibility, teamwork, and selfless service among the youth.
Dr. Apaak also called for increased participation of young women in leadership positions within the Cadet Corps, emphasizing the importance of gender inclusion in youth development and leadership programmes.
He praised the Corps for its growth and impact, noting that it currently has more than 76,000 cadets drawn from basic schools, second-cycle institutions, and tertiary institutions across the country.
The Pre-African Union Day ceremony brought together cadets, education officials, and youth leaders to honour the ideals of service, leadership, and African unity while reflecting on the role of young people in national and continental development.
