The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that students who just completed the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will begin Senior High and Technical School in September 2026.
According to a statement issued by GES on May 14, 2026, fresh students are expected to report to school on September 18, 2026.
GES assured parents, students, and stakeholders that adequate preparations have been made to receive all qualified candidates across the country.
The Service further stated that every qualified candidate will be placed in a Senior High or Technical School.
It also dismissed reports suggesting that about 72,000 students risk not being placed, describing the claims as speculative and inaccurate.
“Every effort has been made to ensure that each student has access to senior high/technical education,” the statement noted.
GES added that there is enough infrastructure and facilities available to accommodate all qualified students.
The statement also assured the public that ongoing efforts to phase out the double-track system would not affect students’ access to secondary education.
“It will rather improve the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining full access for all students,” GES said.
The Service congratulated all BECE candidates on the successful completion of the examination and reaffirmed its commitment to equitable and quality education for all Ghanaian children.
