Ghana and the Netherlands have strengthened their agricultural partnership with the signing of an addendum under the Food and Agriculture Working Group, focusing on the vegetable seed sector.
The agreement builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on May 28, 2025, and aims to enhance cooperation in sustainable agriculture and food production.
Addendum Signed to Strengthen Seed Systems
The addendum was signed in The Hague by John Dumelo, Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, together with Silvo Erkens, Minister of Food Security, Fisheries and Horticulture of the Netherlands.
The agreement is expected to strengthen Ghana’s seed systems by improving access to high-quality seeds and supporting innovation in the agricultural sector.
Focus on Sustainable Agriculture and Innovation
Officials say the collaboration will enhance food security through improved seed availability, increased research, and stronger partnerships between stakeholders.
The initiative is also expected to support farmers and boost agricultural productivity across the country.
Ghana Delegation Continues Working Visit
As part of the engagement, the Ghanaian delegation is undertaking a three-day working visit to the Netherlands.
The visit includes tours of research institutions, fertiliser companies, and major seed producers to promote knowledge sharing and technical cooperation.
Strengthening Bilateral Agricultural Cooperation
The partnership reflects growing cooperation between Ghana and the Netherlands in agriculture, particularly in areas that support food security and sustainable farming practices.
