The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has held talks with the German Ambassador to Ghana, Frederik Landshöft, on expanding the teaching and learning of the German language in Ghana.
Focus on Expanding Access

The Ambassador proposed extending German language programmes beyond institutions such as the University of Education, Winneba to include Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
Internship Opportunities Proposed
As part of the discussions, the German side also proposed creating internship opportunities in German institutions to help Ghanaian students gain practical experience.
Call for Formal Partnership
Mr Iddrisu welcomed the proposals and praised the German Embassy for its continued cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
He said there is a need to develop and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to guide the partnership.
Government Commitment to Language Education
The Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to expanding the teaching of international languages across basic, secondary and tertiary education.
He added that the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission will play a key role in supporting implementation at the tertiary level.
Strengthening International Collaboration
