Dr. Sylvester Nyamekye, Esq., an alumnus of Mfantsipim School and a member of the 2000 year group (MOBA 2000), has donated one hundred (100) desks to his alma mater as part of his efforts to support the school in providing adequate furniture for students.
The donation, which took place on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, marks the first tranche of Dr. Nyamekye’s pledge to deliver 400 desks to the school.
Rev. Ebenezer K. Aidoo, the Headmaster of Mfantsipim School, accompanied by the Assistant Headmaster, received the initial set of 100 desks at a brief ceremony held on the school premises.
Expressing his commitment, Dr. Nyamekye stated that the donation was motivated by his desire to ease the school’s challenges in equipping classrooms with proper furniture for its students.
“This is my way of giving back to the school that shaped my early years. I understand the difficulties schools face in providing the right learning environment, and I hope this donation will help address some of those challenges,” Dr. Nyamekye said.
The headmaster expressed profound gratitude for the gesture and commended Dr. Nyamekye’s generosity. He also appealed for continued support from other stakeholders and well-wishers, stressing the importance of community involvement in enhancing the quality of education.
“We are grateful for this timely intervention by Dr. Nyamekye. These desks will go a long way in providing comfort for our students and improving the learning experience. We are optimistic that the remaining 300 desks will be delivered as promised,” the headmaster remarked.
Mr. Atoquaye, alias Coach, a teacher at Mfantsipim School, was also present during the donation.
Dr. Nyamekye’s donation has been widely appreciated by the school community, highlighting the significant impact of alumni contributions in addressing the school’s infrastructure needs. The school authorities are hopeful that this donation will inspire other old boys and philanthropic individuals to support Mfantsipim School in various capacities.
