Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle and Chairperson of Parliament’s Select Committee on Security and Intelligence, has been elected Second Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament after polling 131 votes against 51. Her elevation is being seen as a significant boost for Ghana’s representation at the continental legislative body.
Dr Agyeman-Rawlings currently serves as MP for Klottey Korle in Ghana’s Parliament. She also chairs the Select Committee on Security and Intelligence, one of Parliament’s key oversight committees.
Her election adds to Ghana’s visibility within the Pan-African Parliament, where she has served as part of Ghana’s delegation since 2025. Earlier reports confirmed her appointment and subsequent swearing-in as a member of Ghana’s delegation to the continental body.
The Pan-African Parliament, which serves as the legislative arm of the African Union, was due to elect a new Bureau during its April 2026 sitting, with the position of Second Vice President designated for West Africa under the body’s regional rotation arrangement.
Her victory is expected to strengthen Ghana’s voice in continental parliamentary diplomacy and further spotlight women’s leadership in African governance.
