Anlo State School in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region has received a new two-unit kindergarten (KG) classroom block with ancillary facilities to improve early childhood education.
The facility was officially commissioned and handed over to the school at a ceremony attended by the Member of Parliament for Keta, Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the Keta Municipal Chief Executive, Wisdom Seade, traditional leaders and other education stakeholders.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Seade said the government was undertaking educational infrastructure projects across the region to improve access to quality education.
He disclosed that the Keta Municipal Assembly had ordered about 500 hexagonal tables and 600 dual desks to support teaching and learning in schools within the municipality.
The MCE urged parents to enrol their children in school and ensure they attend regularly to benefit from the educational opportunities available.
He also appealed to teachers, pupils and community members to take proper care of the newly constructed facility to ensure its long-term use.
For his part, Mr Gakpey reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and providing the necessary resources to strengthen teaching and learning.
He said investment in school facilities remained an important part of efforts to improve educational standards, particularly in communities requiring additional infrastructure.
The Keta Municipal Director of Education, Raphael Mawuko Amenyo, who received the facility on behalf of the school and community, also encouraged parents to prioritise their children’s education.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional authorities, Hanua Bina of Abutiakope expressed appreciation to the government for the project.
