The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) will host the 9th Mini GUSA Games from May 5 to May 15, 2026, bringing together 16 public universities for a major sporting competition.
The event will be held under the patronage of the Vice-Chancellor, John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, on the theme: “Integrating University Sports with Academic Professionalism.”
Top Universities to Compete
The games will feature student-athletes from leading institutions, including the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Coast, University of Education, Winneba, University for Development Studies and University of Mines and Technology.
Other institutions expected to participate include University of Health and Allied Sciences, University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and University of Media, Arts and Communication, among others.
Multiple Sporting Disciplines
The competition will feature events such as football, badminton, 3×3 basketball, athletics, volleyball, tennis and table tennis.
Promoting Sports and Academic Balance
Organisers say the games will promote sportsmanship, teamwork and healthy competition, while reinforcing the importance of balancing academic work with physical development.
Building Unity Across Campuses
The Mini GUSA Games remain an important platform for university students to showcase their talents and build unity and friendship across campuses.
