The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has announced the death of Dr Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning, and his teaching assistant, Mr Peter Amoadu-Asmah, following a road accident on the Cape Coast-Accra highway.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 28, UCC said the two lost their lives in a tragic motor accident at Third Ridge.
The university described the deaths as a great loss to its academic community.
Dr Agyemang was remembered as a respected lecturer known for his commitment to teaching, research and service.
According to the university, his contribution to academic life and his dedication to students and colleagues will be deeply missed.
Mr Amoadu-Asmah was a National Service person and a recent graduate of the same department.
The university said he had distinguished himself academically and graduated as the overall best student in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning in the previous year.
UCC extended condolences to the families of the two deceased and said the university community was mourning with them.
The university also appealed to the public, especially the media, to be sensitive and careful in reporting on the incident.
