President John Mahama has assured Ghanaians that recommendations from the ongoing National Education Forum will be implemented, not left to “gather dust on a shelf.”
Speaking at the national launch of the National Education Reform in Ho on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to translating the forum’s outcomes into concrete policies.
“As a government, we are fully committed to this process and the outcomes of this conference. I assure you that your recommendations will not gather dust on a shelf,” President Mahama said.
Mahama emphasized that the forum’s feedback would serve as the foundation for a transformative education reform agenda, ensuring an inclusive and equitable system that benefits all Ghanaians.
“We’ll prioritise the actionable reforms proposed here with clear timelines and measurable outcomes to guide our steps. Regular updates on progress will be shared with the public to build trust and transparency,” he added.
To facilitate this process, the President has set up an eight-member committee, led by Professor George K. T. Oduro, a former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast. The committee will travel across the country, gathering further input, and has been given two weeks to submit a comprehensive plan based on the forum’s discussions.
