Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, has once again been honored for its outstanding services and facilities, earning a prestigious recognition for its contributions to the field of cybersecurity.
At a recent awards ceremony organized by the Cybersecurity Authority of Ghana (CSA), which was attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the university was presented with the Industry Partnership Award for its ongoing commitment to cybersecurity development and training in Ghana.
Receiving the award on behalf of the university, Mr. Jacob Fynn, Chief Operating Officer, credited the recognition to the university’s significant strides and investments in recent years, particularly in the establishment of state-of-the-art Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, and AI laboratories for both training and commercial purposes.
Mr. Fynn expressed confidence that this latest recognition would drive the university to make even greater strides in safeguarding its reputation, adding, “We are committed to making even bigger investments in infrastructure development, especially in IT and Cybersecurity, to continue building on our success.”
Also present at the event was the Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, who expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders for their contributions to strengthening Ghana’s cybersecurity efforts over the past year.
Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, Director-General of the CSA, also underscored the importance of collaboration in navigating the increasingly complex cybersecurity landscape. “All stakeholders must remain vigilant and proactive in addressing emerging threats,” he stated, emphasizing the need for continuous cooperation in the evolving cybersecurity environment.
The awards ceremony marked the culmination of a month-long national cybersecurity awareness campaign under the theme: “Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation in a Digitally Resilient Democracy: Our Collective Responsibility.”
Since 2017, Ghana’s cybersecurity journey has made remarkable progress, with the country earning global recognition as a cybersecurity hub. Ghana was ranked in the highest tier of the 5th edition of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Global Cybersecurity Index.
