The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has disclosed the government’s plans to establish Information and Communication Technology (ICT) labs to bridge the digital divide and promote ICT literacy.
She made the announcement last Saturday during the commissioning of rural telephony sites in the Ashanti Region where she unveiled an ICT lab at Bouya to bridge the communication gap in underserved areas.
The Minister noted the importance of digital inclusion in driving socio-economic development.
According to her, the ICT lab would offer digital skills training, e-learning platforms and access to online resources to empower residents with the tools needed for education, entrepreneurship and global connectivity.
“The ICT lab will complement the newly commissioned rural telephony sites, further enhancing the community’s connectivity and digital capabilities,” she said.
The Minister’s announcement is a welcome development for the Bouya Community, which has been awaiting this vital resource. This development aligns with the government’s vision of using technology to drive national development and ensure equitable access to digital resources across the country.
