President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has emphasised the transformative impact of 5G technology on Ghana’s national landscape, highlighting its potential to enhance service accessibility and affordability in health, education, agriculture, and security.
“5G technology will have a transformative impact on our national landscape. Its high speed, minimal latency, and enhanced capacity will drive our agenda forward, embedding the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and data analytics into daily life across Ghana, from urban centres to remote villages,” he stated.
The President delivered his keynote address at the launch of 5G technology in Ghana, which took place at the Labadi Royal Beach Hotel in Accra on November 1, 2024.
He outlined the benefits of 5G, including improved healthcare through remote consultations, enhanced education via access to educational content, increased agricultural productivity through precision farming, and economic growth by empowering domestic businesses.
Moreover, he stressed the importance of ensuring that the benefits of 5G reach all Ghanaians, particularly those in rural communities, and committed to bridging the digital divide.
The 5G launch marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s journey toward becoming a digital economy hub, and the President’s address underscored the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for national development.
