President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that government has projected to train about 400,000 youth under the One Million Coders Programme this year.
“Phase two, which will include virtual sessions, is set to commence this year, with expanded training centres and an increased number of beneficiaries. It is projected that 400,000 Ghanaians will be trained this year,” he announced during his State of the Nation Address.
The President explained that the initiative forms part of the Government’s Reset Agenda to equip young people with essential digital skills for the modern global economy.
“As part of the Government’s Reset Agenda to ensure Ghanaian youth acquire essential digital skills for the modern global economy, I launched the One Million Coders Programme in March 2025,” he stated.
“The initiative aims to train 1 million Ghanaians in key digital areas, including Data Analytics, Data Protection, Cyber Security, the Metaverse, and Artificial Intelligence, over four years.”
President Mahama noted that Phase One of the programme, described as the pilot phase, saw hundreds of trainees complete in-person training across centres in Accra, Kumasi, Sunyani and Bolgatanga.
He emphasised that digital competence will be central to Ghana’s economic transformation.
“Our Reset Agenda places digital skills at the heart of national transformation,” he added.
