President John Dramani Mahama has removed Anne Sansa Daly from her position on the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), effective immediately.
A letter from the Office of the President, dated May 23, 2025, and signed by Secretary to the President Callistus Mahama, confirmed the revocation. In her place, the President has appointed Professor Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke as a new member of the NHIA board.
The Ministry of Health has been directed to oversee Prof. Yorke’s formal induction into the board.
While the official announcement did not state a reason for Daly’s removal, it comes amid growing scrutiny over her professional qualifications, particularly her eligibility to practice medicine in Ghana.
Prof. Yorke brings a strong track record in the medical field. A respected figure in Ghana’s health sector, he is a former Greater Accra Regional Chair of the Ghana Medical Association and is expected to contribute significantly to the NHIA’s mission.
The NHIA board is responsible for guiding the operations of Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme, which seeks to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare for all Ghanaians.
