Philanthropist, journalist, and native of Klikor-Kpordoave in the Ketu South Municipality, Mr. David Sitsofe Tamakloe, in collaboration with the Ketu South office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has donated relief items to 125 flood victims at Agbozume-Ahorkpoe in the Ketu South Municipality.
The donation exercise, held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the AME Zion JHS School in Agbozume-Ahorkpoe, was aimed at supporting families whose homes and livelihoods were affected by recent flooding in the municipality.
Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Tamakloe said the initiative was made possible through the support of several private individuals, including Mrs. Veronica Debrah, wife of the Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, and other benevolent partners.
He explained that the donation was his contribution to easing the burden on affected families while complementing government’s relief efforts.
Mr. Tamakloe assured residents of his continued commitment to community development but urged them to take proactive steps to prevent future flooding by participating in communal labour and keeping drains and waterways free from refuse.
He noted that although floods may not always displace residents, they often create conditions that increase the risk of disease outbreaks.
The Ketu South Municipal Director of NADMO, Mr. Ferguson Ahorlu, commended Mr. Tamakloe and his partners for the timely intervention, describing the donation as a significant contribution to ongoing relief efforts in the municipality.
Mr. Ahorlu also advised residents living in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer locations during the rainy season to safeguard lives and property.
He further disclosed that the Ketu South Municipal Assembly would soon begin demolishing structures built on waterways as part of measures to reduce flooding across the municipality.
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Assembly Member for the Ahorkpoe Electoral Area, Mr. Saviour Agbeko Awoye, thanked the donors for their generosity and assured them that the relief items would be distributed fairly among all beneficiaries.
He also reminded residents to actively participate in the community’s monthly communal labour exercise, warning that sanctions would be imposed on those who fail to do so in accordance with the law.
The relief package included bags of rice, cooking oil, Indomie noodles, bar soap, powdered soap, sanitary pads, toilet rolls, tissue paper, sachet water and soft drinks.
Beneficiaries described the support as timely and expressed appreciation to Mr. Tamakloe, NADMO and all the donors for coming to their aid.
Following the exercise, Mr. Tamakloe, in a statement shared on his social media platforms, expressed solidarity with the affected residents, saying, “We feel your pain.” He explained that the support was intended to complement government’s relief efforts and appealed to more individuals and organisations to partner in extending assistance to every flood-affected community in the municipality.
He further announced that the relief exercise would continue with the distribution of government relief items to affected residents in Blekusu, Klikor, Akame, Kpodzi and the remaining communities in Aflao, reaffirming his commitment to supporting vulnerable communities across Ketu South.
