The University of Ghana School of Law’s (UGSoL) homecoming week concluded today with a health walk and a food bazaar extravaganza, capping off a week filled with excitement, nostalgia, and a strong sense of community.
The week-long celebrations began with a memorable alumni reunion, during which former classmates reconnected, shared stories, and imparted their wisdom to the eager law students. The days that followed were filled with spirited sports competitions, talent shows, and a heated debate and lecture from Supreme Court Judges that had the school buzzing with excitement.
The main attraction, however, has been reserved for the grand finale, with the School of Law transforming into a vibrant carnival-like atmosphere on Saturday, November 4, 2023. The day began with a health walk that brought together students, alumni, and faculty members to demonstrate their commitment to physical fitness. Participants marched through the picturesque campus, promoting a healthy lifestyle while recalling their time at the School of Law.
As the health walk came to an end, a hypnotic aroma wafted through the air, drawing everyone to the event’s heart—the food bazaar. Booths were set up, each representing a different culture and taste, with a diverse array of delectable dishes from around the world. The food offerings were a feast for the senses, with everything from spicy street tacos to decadent desserts.
In the evening, a live band filled the air with music that resonated with the attendees’ souls, complementing the mouthwatering dishes. People danced and sang along to the upbeat music, creating an atmosphere of pure joy and community.
Delicious food, live music, and the company of old and new friends made for an unforgettable experience. Homecoming week at the School of Law had undoubtedly reached its pinnacle, leaving everyone with fond memories and a strong sense of pride in their institution.
Prof. Raymond Atugubga, Dean of the School of Law, expressed gratitude to all participants in the week’s celebrations, emphasizing the benefits of the events for students at the faculty.
“It is such an honour to have great members of the faculty join us to celebrate and reunite as one. Prominent people here to speak with would not only motivate all the students but to tell them that at the end of the tunnel there is indeed light. We should all embrace the opportunity as we eat and dine with senior members.”
Students from the School of Law were ecstatic and proud to be a part of the law school community. They expressed gratitude to the management for organizing the events, and expressed delight with the foods and beverages.
“I am so happy to be here and enjoy with senior members. Seeing some members really inspire me to do more. I am even out of words, but I know certainly that I am very happy to be here.”
The Law School community reflected on the week’s events, appreciating the bonds formed and the traditions upheld. It was a homecoming to remember, one that will live on in the hearts of everyone who was a part of this incredible event.
