Yaw Sakyi Afari, Head of RITE Sports Services—the organisers and marketers of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League—is urging students to seize the opportunity presented by the league’s inaugural event to connect with key industry figures and unlock potential career pathways post-graduation.
In an exclusive interview with Universports, Mr. Sakyi disclosed that his team has collaborated with the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (UGSRC) to promote the event and raise awareness among the student body.
“We’ve started a conversation with the SRC to see how we can work with them to drive awareness amongst the student population, to come and, first of all, enjoy these games, and then also to network with these corporate organisations. In a few years, they will be graduating and will be sending their CVs to these various institutions. And so now we’re giving you the opportunity to get to know them, to build relationships within these organisations. And so I believe that when you go and you distinguish yourself doing your national service, it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to be retained or to gain employment in these various institutions,” he said.
The much-anticipated University of Ghana Corporate League, featuring sixteen (16) corporate teams, is set to deliver twenty (20) weeks of exhilarating football, commencing this February and concluding in July.
Matches will be played under the floodlights at the University of Ghana Stadium, with the event designed to foster stronger connections between corporate organisations and the university community, while also promoting health and sportsmanship.
