In response to an upcoming documentary by Joy News titled “Empty Plates,” which alleges subpar and inadequate meals served to Senior High School (SHS) students, the Ministry of Education has launched a nationwide visitation and monitoring initiative to assess the quality and quantity of food provided in these schools.
A statement released by the Ministry of Education’s Public Relations Officer, Kwesi Kwarteng, on Monday, March 4, 2024, addressed the concerns raised in the documentary. According to Mr. Kwarteng, the Ministry’s comprehensive investigations reveal that SHS students receive well-prepared and high-quality meals.
The statement aims to reassure parents, students, and the general public of the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to delivering adequate, high-quality, and timely food supplies, ensuring the success of the free and quality Senior High School program. As the nationwide visitation and monitoring exercise unfolds, the Ministry seeks to dispel any doubts regarding the nutritional well-being of SHS students and underscore its dedication to enhancing the overall education experience.
