The University of Ghana has announced that its matriculation ceremony for newly-admitted regular students for the 2025/2026 academic year will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
According to a notice issued by the University, the ceremony will be organised at the college level and held in two sessions — morning and afternoon — across multiple venues on the Legon campus.
The morning session, scheduled for 9:00 a.m., will see students from the College of Basic and Applied Sciences matriculate at the Great Hall, while those from the College of Health Sciences will be received at the Cedi Conference Centre. The College of Education will hold its ceremony at the Cedi Conference Centre during the afternoon session, which begins at 1:00 p.m., alongside the College of Humanities at the Great Hall. Students from the Accra City Campus will matriculate at the UGACC premises.
Fresh students have been advised to be seated at least 15 minutes before the start of their respective sessions.
The University further indicated that matriculation dates for students enrolled under Distance Education, as well as those at the Kumasi City Campus and Takoradi City Campus, will be announced at a later date.
In line with the Statutes of the University of Ghana, all students admitted to the University for the first time — including undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma students — are required to take the Matriculation Oath and sign the Matriculation Register. The notice cautions that any student who fails to sign the register may be prevented from graduating.
To this end, newly-admitted students are required to log onto the Students/Staff Services (STS) Portal between Monday, January 26, and Friday, February 6, 2026, to sign the Matriculation Register ahead of the ceremony. The oath will then be administered during the matriculation event.
The prescribed attire for the ceremony is a black matriculation gown worn over formal dress. The University has announced that details regarding the collection of gowns will be communicated in due course. Students are expected to return the gowns on the same day by 4:30 p.m., failure of which will attract a penalty.
The University has urged all newly-admitted regular students to take note of the directives and comply fully to avoid any academic complications.
