The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has opened applications for admission into its full-time, sandwich and distance undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The university is inviting qualified candidates to apply across a wide range of programmes, with prospective applicants who will be writing the WASSCE in 2026 encouraged to apply as “awaiting results.”
How to Apply
Applicants are required to obtain an application voucher either online through the university’s admissions system or from designated banks, including GCB Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Republic Bank, Zenith Bank, Consolidated Bank Ghana, Prudential Bank and Access Bank.
Completed application forms must be submitted online through the university’s admissions portal using the voucher details. Applicants are advised to prepare soft copies of their certificates or results; a passport photograph with a red background; a national ID; as well as an active email address and phone number before starting the application process.
Cost of Application
The university has outlined the application fees for various categories of applicants. Undergraduate applicants, including direct and mature candidates, are required to pay GH¢255.00. The same amount applies to diploma, post-diploma, and bachelor’s programmes. Postgraduate applicants, including those applying for MA, MEd, MSc, MBA, MPhil and PhD programmes, are required to pay GH¢325.00. International applicants will pay a fee of USD 100.00.
Application Deadlines
The deadline for direct and mature applications has been set for September 30, 2026, while sandwich programme applications will close earlier, on June 30, 2026. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications well ahead of these deadlines to avoid last-minute challenges.
Important Admission Guidelines
The university has advised applicants to carefully read the admission brochure available on its website before completing their applications. It noted that a fee-paying option is available for candidates who meet the minimum entry requirements but do not meet competitive cut-off points.
Applicants for Physical Education and Sports Coaching programmes must not exceed 40 and 50 years, respectively. The university also emphasised that applications without supporting documents will not be processed.
In addition, certificates obtained outside recognised institutions such as WAEC, universities and technical universities in Ghana must be verified by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, and the evaluation report must be submitted as part of the application.
