The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Professor Denis Worlanyo Aheto, has issued a stern warning to freshers against engaging in inter-hall clashes, declaring that any student involved in such disturbances risks immediate dismissal.
Addressing newly admitted students at the university’s matriculation ceremony, Prof. Aheto made it clear that management would not tolerate a repeat of last year’s post-matriculation confrontations between halls.
“We do not want any form of confrontation between the halls,” Prof. Aheto said. “I deliberately asked Casfordians to stand up, ATL and all that because what we witnessed last year was not good.”
He recalled that clashes which erupted shortly after the previous matriculation ceremony forced the university to spend significant resources on security interventions to restore calm on campus.
“This year, if it happens, I will be the first person to show you the gates of this university and you will go back home,” he warned.
Prof. Aheto stressed that UCC remains committed to providing a peaceful and secure academic environment, urging students to focus on their studies and adhere strictly to the university’s rules and regulations.
The warning forms part of renewed efforts by the university’s management to maintain discipline and prevent disruptions to academic activities in the new academic year.
