The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast has launched Season III of its ‘Woman of Choice’ beauty pageant, unveiling 16 contestants from the various halls of residence.
The pageant, according to organisers, is designed to go beyond physical beauty by creating a platform that promotes talent, confidence and leadership among students.
This year’s finalists were selected after auditions held in April 2026, where they showcased their intelligence, poise and passion for service.
Among the contestants is a visually impaired finalist, adding a strong message of inclusion to this year’s competition.
At the launch, the contestants treated the audience to performances that offered a glimpse of what organisers say will be a more competitive and inspiring edition.
Speaking at the event, the SRC Vice-President, Deborah Gyamfuah, described the platform as an opportunity for personal growth and student empowerment.
According to university sources, Ms Gyamfuah said, “It is a remarkable opportunity to nurture our colleagues who are passionate about the Woman of Choice programme. Previous participants can attest that they have emerged as better versions of themselves after the event, thanks to grooming sessions such as public speaking. Expect nothing but the best from us.”
The Chairperson of the event, the Chief of Kwaprow, Nana Kwesi Mensah III, commended the SRC for sustaining the initiative and urged the contestants to engage in healthy competition.
As a gesture of support, Nana Kwesi Mensah III donated GH¢10,000 towards the programme and an additional GH¢4,000 to the contestants.
The launch sets the stage for another season of the pageant, which organisers say will continue to focus on personal development, culture and student leadership.
