A business conference aimed at preparing students for the job market has been held at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), with a strong focus on entrepreneurship and soft skills development.
The event, dubbed ‘Knowledge Revolution’, took place at Auditorium 900 and was organised by Evans Oppong Ministries in collaboration with the Design Thinking and Innovation HUB (D-HUB) at UCC.
The seminar sought to equip students with employability skills and practical competencies needed to thrive in Ghana’s evolving job market.
Addressing participants, the General Overseer and Global Senior Pastor of City of Faith Ministry, H.E. Amb. Dr. Evans Oppong, urged students to combine academic pursuits with entrepreneurial ventures.
He described entrepreneurship as a vital tool for personal growth and long-term success, encouraging students to start small businesses or projects while still in school.
According to him, engaging in entrepreneurial activities not only provides income but also teaches valuable lessons in saving, financial discipline and strategic planning.
Dr. Oppong advised students not to wait until after graduation to pursue business ideas but to begin exploring opportunities during their university years.
He also encouraged them to remain resilient in the face of challenges, stressing the importance of persistence, purposeful living and building strong support systems.
In his remarks, the Director of D-HUB, Dr. Edward Nii Amar Amarteifio, underscored the need for students to acquire soft skills to enhance their competitiveness in the global marketplace.
He encouraged students to learn additional skills, including foreign languages, while pursuing their academic programmes.
The conference forms part of ongoing efforts by UCC and its partners to bridge the gap between academic training and industry expectations, empowering students to become innovative leaders and job creators.
