The former President of the University of Ghana’s 2013/2014 Student Representative Council (SRC), now Member of Parliament for Ketu North Constituency, led his erstwhile executive team to donate food items and GH¢20,000 in cash to the University of Ghana Food Bank.
The Food Bank, an initiative established by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Professor Rosina Kyeremanten, was created to support students facing financial hardship, particularly those struggling to afford daily meals.
Since its inception, the initiative has provided assistance to over 8,000 students, serving as a vital safety net for many within the University community.
Presenting the donation, the former SRC executives commended Professor Kyeremanten for what they described as a visionary and compassionate intervention that addresses food insecurity on campus.
They urged alumni and past student leaders to support the initiative to ensure its sustainability and expansion.
Other members of the 2013/2014 SRC leadership who supported the donation included former Vice President Kwame Asare Antwi, former Secretary Sandra Ewool, former Speaker of the General Assembly Rich Kofi Kofituo, former Women’s Commissioner (WOCOM) and former Treasurer.
The gesture highlights continued alumni engagement in student welfare and reinforces calls for collective responsibility in addressing student support needs at the University of Ghana.
