The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has hosted students and teachers from Jamiat Alhidaya Islamic Girls Senior High School in Wa at Parliament House in Accra, where the delegation highlighted key infrastructure challenges confronting the school.
The delegation, led by Mr. Titus Dumbu, briefed the Speaker on the institution’s urgent need for a fence wall, improved washroom facilities, and additional dormitory space to accommodate the growing student population.
Mr. Dumbu explained that addressing these infrastructure gaps would significantly improve the teaching and learning environment for students.
Responding to the concerns raised, Speaker Bagbin commended the students and teachers for taking the initiative to visit Parliament and assured them of his support in addressing some of the school’s pressing needs.
He indicated that efforts would be made to support the construction of a fence wall and provide improved washroom facilities for the school.
The Speaker also used the occasion to educate the students about the role of Parliament in Ghana’s democratic governance.
“Parliament is the house of democracy, and the main feature of democracy is Parliament,” he told the students.
Mr. Bagbin further encouraged the students to remain focused on their studies and work hard to achieve success in their academic pursuits and future careers.
The visit formed part of efforts by the school to expose students to national institutions and deepen their understanding of Ghana’s democratic processes.
