The High Commission of India in Accra has announced the opening of applications for scholarships for Ghanaian students for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The scholarships are being offered through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and will support studies at universities and institutes across India.
According to the High Commission, the programme provides opportunities for students to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in a wide range of disciplines.
Two scholarship schemes are available.
The first, the India–Africa Maitri Scholarship Scheme, offers 70 slots for Ghanaian students to study both STEM and non-STEM programmes at participating Indian universities.
The second, the Lata Mangeshkar Dance and Music Scholarship Scheme, focuses on cultural and creative arts, including dance, music, theatre, performing arts, sculpture, Indian languages and cuisine. It also includes a one-year diploma programme in yoga.
The ICCR scholarships provide comprehensive support, including return airfare, full tuition fees, a monthly stipend, accommodation and other academic allowances.
Applications must be submitted online through the ICCR Admission to Alumni Scholarship Portal.
The application window opened on February 27, 2026, and will close on April 15, 2026.
Prospective applicants are advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria, academic requirements and participating institutions before applying.
