Applicants in the ongoing Ghana Education Service (GES) recruitment exercise have reported a range of challenges affecting their ability to complete applications successfully.
The issues, widely shared on social media, include difficulties accessing the portal, document upload errors, missing school names, and problems retrieving application IDs.
Common GES Application Problems
1. Portal Not Opening or Loading Slowly
Many applicants say the recruitment portal is either slow or inaccessible.
Fix:
Applicants are advised to:
- Try accessing the portal during off-peak hours (early morning or late night)
- Use a stable internet connection
2. Missing Colleges, Districts or Options
Some users report that certain colleges of education or districts do not appear on the system.
Fix:
- Refresh the page or restart the application process
- Check back later, as options may be updated periodically
3. School Name Not Showing on the Portal
A growing number of applicants have complained that the names of their schools do not appear when filling out the application form, making it impossible to proceed.
Fix:
- Ensure you are selecting the correct category or programme type before searching for your school
- Try using different variations or spellings of your school’s name
- Access the portal using a laptop or desktop, as some mobile devices may not display all options
- If the issue persists, wait and try again later, as the system may be updated to include missing schools
4. “Maximum Capacity Reached” Messages
Applicants are receiving notifications that some regions or subject areas have reached capacity.
Fix:
- Apply early to secure a slot
- Consider selecting alternative regions or specialisations
5. Difficulty Uploading Documents
Problems with uploading certificates and licences are among the most common complaints.
Fix:
- Ensure documents are in PDF or image format
- Reduce file size if necessary
- Use a laptop instead of a mobile phone
6. Loss of Application ID
Applicants who fail to save their Application ID are unable to continue the process.
Fix:
- Take a screenshot or write down the Application ID immediately
- Check email or SMS notifications, if available
7. Incorrect Personal Details
Errors in names, dates of birth, or Ghana Card numbers can affect applications.
Fix:
- Double-check all details before submission
- Ensure information matches official documents
GES Urges Applicants to Be Careful
GES has acknowledged concerns raised by applicants and assured that issues with the portal are being addressed.
The recruitment exercise, which began on April 10, aims to employ seven thousand (7000) teachers nationwide.
Applicants are therefore encouraged to follow all instructions carefully and ensure accuracy at every stage of the application process.
