The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has engaged the National Identification Authority (NIA) ahead of a planned mass registration of Ghanaian children aged 6 to 14 years.
The meeting, held with a delegation from the NIA led by its Executive Secretary, Wisdom Kwaku Deku, focused on preparations for the nationwide exercise and strengthening institutional collaboration to ensure a smooth rollout.
Discussions centred on planning, logistics, communication with schools and parents, and clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of both agencies in the implementation process.
GES reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the national assignment by facilitating access to basic schools across the country and coordinating closely with regional and district education offices.
The Service indicated that effective collaboration between school authorities and NIA officials would be critical to the success of the exercise.
Parents and guardians have been encouraged to cooperate fully when the registration begins, as enrolling children into the national identification system is expected to support national planning, improve access to public services, and strengthen Ghana’s identity management framework.
The upcoming exercise forms part of broader efforts to enhance data accuracy and inclusion within Ghana’s national identification system, particularly among school-age children.
