Team UG Deservedly Beat UCC In Men's Basketball Finals To Grab Gold At 7th Mini GUSA Games

University of Ghana (UG) has won Gold at just ended 2017 Mini GUSA (Ghana Universities Sports Association) games in the men's basketball category held at the University of Cape Coast.

Team UG beat Host University, UCC in the finals by 75-56 scores to win the prestigious title.

This current team has chalked remarkable achievements last year by emerging champions of major basketball competitions both nationally and on the international stage.

The team is currently the defending champions of 2016 GUSA (Ghana Universities Sports Association) and UPAC (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges) games respectively.

In June last year, the team made University of Ghana and the nation proud by winning gold at the 8th Africa University Sports Federation (FASU) games held in South Africa. This made University of Ghana, the first Ghanaian institution to win Gold a major international tournament.

Teams from all public Universities in the country, thus University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Ghana (UG), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), University for Development Studies (UDS), University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), University of Energy and Natural Resources (UNER), competed for the coveted trophy.

The 7th Mini GUSA Games which commenced on Tuesday, 3rd January, 2017 ended today, Friday, 13th January, 2017.
