Richmond Nketia Suggests SSNIT Contributions And Insurance Cover For Local Players

Russia-based player Richmond Nketia has offered a brilliant suggestion to the managers of Ghanaian Football Clubs to consider paying social security contributions for their players.

He believes that this move will encourage star players to remain in the domestic league as well as attract other good players on the continent to join.

Former Ghana U-20 World Cup player also urged for the introduction of insurance cover for players in the domestic top-flight to cater for them in times of career-threatening injuries and believes it will serve as an incentive to them.

The Russia-based guardsman called on the Ghana League Clubs Association and the Ghana Football Association to be proactive to lift the standard of the game.

“We have good and quality players in the Ghana League but if we did not improve the standard of the League it will be very difficult to compete with other African countries in the Africa Club Competition,” the Arsenal Tula defender told Starrfm.

Nketia believes the league lacks facilities that could help the players be in tune with modern system of training.
