Black Satellites of Ghana win New Zealand tourney

Ghana U-20 team have won a four-nation tournament staged in New Zealand after defeating Australia 2-0 on Wednesday.

Coach Sellas Tetteh’s team walked into their last game with Australia with six points from two previous wins over Qatar and New Zealand.

Emmanuel Boateng, who scored his fourth goal of the tourney, opened the team’s account before Manchester City’s Yaw Yeboah added a second goal to increase his tally to two goals from three matches in the competition.

The result means Ghana won all three matches scoring 15 goals and conceding two.

The four-nation tournament served as a preparatory ground ahead of the Fifa U-20 World Cup taking place also in New Zealand from May 30 to June 20, 2015.

The Black Satellites will leave for Australia for a 14-day training tour before coming back to New Zealand for the tournament.

Tetteh, who invited 35 players for the pre-tournament camping, is expected to announce his final 21-man squad on May 21.

Ghana have been pitted against Argentina, Panama and Austria in Group B.
