The agreement also paves way for Ghanaian and Hungarian researchers, experts and lecturers to collaborate at various levels whiles opening Ghanaian institutions to Hungarian students desirous of exchange programmes.
Areas of study the scholarship covers include Natural Sciences especially Medicine and Public Health, Engineering, Agriculture and Economics as these disciplines are in line with government's transformational development agenda and also the fact that Hungary is renowned in these disciplines having produced many Noble Laureates to its credit.
The agreement, which starts this year presents opportunity to 10 Ghanaian students for their Undergraduate studies, 30 for Masters and 10 for Doctoral studies in top Hungarian universities. This agreement is for 2016, 2017 and 2018 after which a review will be carried out by both Governments for a possible extension and expansion.
The package overs accommodation, monthly stipends, and medical insurance in addition to full tuition.
The Scholarship Secretariat has been tasked to coordinate this scholarship and interested students can apply before the deadline. The deadline for applications for this year is Wednesday, 16th march, 2016.
The Minister for Human Capacities Hon. Laszlo Palkovics signed on behalf of the Government of Hungary at a brief ceremony witnessed by Ghana's Ambassador to the Czech Republic who also oversees Hungary, Romania and Slovakia Her Excellency Zita Sabbah Okaikoi.
