In Memory Of The Late Professor John Evans Attah Mills

IN MEMORY OF THE LATE PROFESSOR JOHN EVANS ATTAH MILLS

Till the sun ceases to give light in the day,
You will forever be remembered,

For your exemplary leadership,
And for the virtues we learnt,
From your selfless respect for reality,
Which is the most difficult and central of all virtues,
For the sacrifices that you made to liberate Africa,
Professor John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills,
Your memory will forever linger in our minds.

Till the moon and the stars cease to give light in the night,
You will forever be remembered,
For how you gave the little wealth that you had,
Which is your life, to build a nation for your country,
No nation wanted it so much,
For a man to die for his country,
If not for your love and duty for your country,
I think and hope, you will still be alive today,
Professor John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills,
Your memory will forever linger in our minds.

Till the last plant on planet earth dies,
The world will remember you,
As a great and Mighty man who once lived,
For you were slow to anger and wrath,
But quick to forgive those who wronged you,
For you were swift to hear and slow to speak,
The world will remember you as a man who died,
From the actions and in-actions of his own people,
Professor John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills,
Your memory will forever linger in our minds.

Till the last of everything,
You will forever be remembered,
For the human that you were,
Even though you had your own weaknesses,
I think the biggest of all your weaknesses,
Is the spirit of endurance that you had,
You endured all kind of atrocities of human nature,
And it is this endurance that sent you to an early grave,
Professor John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills,
Your memory will forever linger in our minds.

Till the death of the last teacher on earth,
You will forever be remembered,
For a great teacher that you were,
Even in your death, you continue to teach us,
The ingredients that make life better,
Even in your death, you continue to expose the hypocrisy of human nature,
Those who used to criticize and lambast you all time, all day,
Are the same people who speak well of you when you were no more,
Professor John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills,
Your memory will forever linger in our minds.

Till the time the Almighty stop to redeem through signs,
You will forever be remembered,
For the joy that you gave to your people amidst their mourning,
For how your age, the name of the hospital that you died at, etc,
Became winning lotto numbers for your people,
For how 24th July 2012, the day you ceased to live,
Signifies twenty four hours in a day, seven days a week,
And twelve months in a year,
Professor John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills,
Your memory will forever linger in our minds.

Till the day I breathe my last breath,
I will forever remember you, for you taught me,
To hold on to things which are reliable,
To look to simplicity and embrace humility,
To lessen the self in me and diminish my desires
I used to think that Politics is,
An institution of many blood-sucking creatures of humans
But through your leadership, I now know better,
Professor John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills,
Your memory will forever linger in my mind.
