ABOUT UNITED VOLUNTEERS NETWORK
It is a social organization with the primary responsibility of mobilising students in the various tertiary institutions to offer voluntary services to deprived communities in the country.
Currently, UVN has over 1800 registered student volunteers and we have volunteered in over 100 communities & opened reading clubs and a community library.
The leadership of the United Volunteers Network wishes to congratulate all the young people across the country as we celebrate the INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY.
We reckon the significant contributions that some young people like our members, are making towards the development of this country.
We congratulate the government, individuals and other organizations that are contributing to youth development in Ghana.
We also use this opportunity to call on the Government to establish a special INCENTIVE & REMUNERATION PACKAGE exclusively for rural teachers.
Also, Teacher Trainees who are on Student Loan Scheme and accept postings to rural areas should have the interest payable waived.
These interventions we believe will make significant impact in getting qualified teachers to teach in rural areas. In most of the communities where we have operated, there is a pathetic situation with regards to lack of teachers in the schools.
In some schools, only one teacher is responsible for an entire basic school.
We also wish to remind the youth that we have a collective responsibility to build our nation & we must not allow partisan politics, religion or ethnicity to divide our front.
Let us commit our energies to healthy debates and take personal initiatives that will augment the efforts of government.
In conclusion, we call on all Ghanaian Youth to uphold virtues and values that will help us make Ghana, Great and strong.
LONG LIVE OUR CHERISHED VOLUNTEERS.
LONG LIVE THE YOUTH OF GHANA
LONG LIVE GHANA.
