Teachers To Write Licence Exams

The National Teachers Council (NTC) of the Ministry of Education has announced that teachers will now have to pass a special examination before being granted the licence to teach.

The move, according to the NTC, is to enforce discipline and eliminate non-performing teachers from the system, in accordance with the new Teachers Licencing Policy under the Education Act 778 (2008).

JHS Student Stabbed To Death By Classmate

A 20-year-old, Mathew Opoku was stabbed to death by his classmate, Elijah Namon on Wednesday, 26th July, 2017.

The deceased was stabbed in the chest. The two are JHS 1 students at the WESCO Demonstration Junior High School at Suame in Kumasi. The incident happened on the school’s premises.

Volta Region Students Association (Vorsa) Legon chapter has successfully carried out a five-week voluntary vacation teaching program in some selected districts in the Volta Region.

Since 2014, students of the association recognized the need to assist disadvantaged pupils in some parts of the region through voluntary teaching during the long vacations.
