Every great person was, is, or will be successful because of the company he or she keeps. They will make an impact because of a successful network of driven peers who provide both inspiration and healthy competition.

The Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO) of the University of Ghana has benefited from the benevolence of Friends of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ernest Aryeetey .

Friends of Professor Ernest Aryeetey have donated GHC20, 000.00 to the Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO) to support brilliant but needy students.

The presentation, which was published on the University's website was done by the Vice-Chancellor.

Receiving the donation, the Head of SFAO, Mrs. Christine Baning, said the money had come at an opportune time, especially at the start of a new academic year when resources are needed to support students. She added that the money would be paid into the University’s Needy Fund from where it would be disbursed to cover both the academic and residential fees of the brilliant but needy students.

She also acknowledged the supportive role of Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ernest Aryeetey who has made out of pocket donations of GHC6,000.00 towards the progress of SFAO over the years.

The operation of the Students Financial Aid Office of the University of Ghana continues to form an integral part of removing the cost barriers that may prevent students from pursuing their educational goals. Financial aid is however available to brilliant Ghanaian students, who demonstrate significant financial need, are enrolled as regular student in a full time programme of study, and have excelled in their courses of study.
