Chief Dele Momodu is a prominient Nigerian Journalist/Publisher, Polemists, businessman, philanthropist, actor and motivational speaker. He is also the CEO and publisher of Ovation International, a magazine that gives publicity to people from all over the world, mainly in Africa.
The award was bestowed on him in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the world of business, politics, litreature and the media industry, and his mark of excellence in his field of work.
Delivering his acceptance speech, Chief Dele described his journey from Nigeria to exile in the United Kingdom through the city of Accra two decades ago as "unseen but unmistakable hand of destiny." He believes that, without a miraculous hand of God, a journey that began 21 years ago with sadness could not have been crystalized with honour and glory witnessed by people on this occassion.
He expressed his gratitude to the Council of the University for bestowing on him the honorary Doctorate degree.
"I am truly honoured and full of gratitude to the council of the university," Chief Dele said.
Chief Momodu announced that he will replicate an endowment fund he set up at University of Ghana at the University of Professional Studies, Accra in due time.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Joshua Alarbi in his address enumerated a number of successes management has chalked over the years which have culminated in the award of full accreditation by the prestigious institution of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programmmes (ACBSP) based in Kansas in the United States of America.
In all, a total of 2,575 graduates were presented with their diplomas and degrees. Of this number, there are 318 diplomates, 1,836 undergraduate and 421 postgraduate.
The University which is Ghana’s only public university that offers degrees and tertiary diplomas as well as tuition for internationally recognized professional programmes has in the past conferred honorary doctorate degrees on three illustrious sons of the nation. The proud recipients were the Asantehene, Otumfouo Osei Tutu II, (an Alumnus), the Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament, Mr Doe Adjaho, as well as Dr Albert Kan-Dapaah, (also an Alumnus) a former Minister of State and former Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament.
