He is seeking the Appeal Board to review the verdict of the Judicial Board which removed him from office as President of the SRC on Sunday, 19th March, 2016.
The Judicial Board ruled to remove Mr Addom from his position as SRC President over financial malfeasance after the board received a petition submitted by the Students’ Parliament.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with ghcampus.com, the P.R.O of the SRC and the Lead Counsel for Mr Addom, Mr. Cyril K. Nkrumah Dzidedi, described the verdict as bizarre saying no form of auditing was conducted to ascertain any financial loss or otherwise.
He added also that, not even the Supreme Court of Ghana has the powers to remove a Sitting President from office considering the Indemnity Clause.
Commenting on the four charges (ghcampus.com will make available to you later) levelled against his client, Mr Nkrumah told ghcampus.com that the petitioners are acting in bad faith as they only picking and choosing to put his client’s name into disrepute. He disclosed that, on the approved budget, a greater amount was allocated to pay the artiste contracted to perform but the heroic efforts of the President ensured that the artiste was paid a lesser amount.
He further stated that it is not unlawful per se to overspend a budget since it is an estimate; so far as it does not result into budget overrun.
Meanwhile, the Judicial Board Chairperson will today present the full judgement to the school's administration. We will keep you updated.
