UCC Graduates 3, 434 students

University of Cape Coast has held its 48th Congregation for the 2014/2015 academic year and ghcampus’ UCC representative, Abena Okyerewa Lamptey was at ceremony and filed this report:
A total of 3, 434 students have been graduated by the University of Cape Coast at the Second session of the 48th Congregation for the 2014/2015 academic year.


Delivering an address at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole congratulated the graduates for successfully completing their programmes of study at the University and reminded them of the big task ahead of them as they were being ushered into a world full of challenges and uncertainties.
He noted that countries were struggling with social, political and economic challenges; unemployment has become one of the major issues. He pointed out that “Surviving in such a turbulent environment is not going to be easy; there may be challenges but things are not gloomy yet, and so do not be in a state of despondency: transform those challenges into opportunities.”
Prof. Kuupole implored the graduates to remember to preserve and guard against complacency by focusing on their goals as well as applying the skills and all the knowledge they had acquired at UCC to enable them pass through life with ease. He further admonished them to make a difference in society taking into consideration the sacrifices that their parents and guardians have made towards the successful completion of their education.
He remarked that “Give back to society what society has given you, to whom much is given much is expected! Be disciplined, be diligent in everything that you do and do not rest on your oars.” He further entreated the graduates to learn and seek further knowledge in diverse areas stressing that “it is this that will make you versatile to enable you move along with a changing world.”
Mr. Jonah Kwame Xeflide, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology was adjudged the overall best graduating student with a Cummulative Grade Poing Average (CGPA) of 3.92 at the ceremony.
