The founder of Lokhanda, Mr Lord Kwadjo Andoh has warned students against these habits that have exacerbated in the advent of social media, explaining that not only do these habits distract your attention, but people who answer calls, text or listen to music while walking put their lives at risk.
Speaking at the maiden edition of Women Empowerment Programme organized by the Students' Representative Council (SRC) Women Commission of the Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) on Self-defense, Mr Andoh stated that the first step to self-defense is Avoidance. He emphasized on a verse in the Bible which states that 'the prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it'- Proverbs 27:12. He said, it is everyone's duty to 'avoid any situation that can get you into trouble'.
He encouraged students especially women to set clear boundaries around themselves in order to minimize dangers and risks they are exposed to.
Lokhanda crew demonstrated and took participants through basic technique training on how to quickly escape in most dangerous and life-threatening situations.
Students were advised to be aware of their environment.
