Professor Akosua Adomako Ampofo, Nadia Ismaila Mentor University Of Ghana Female Students

As part of this year's Jubilee Hall Week celebration, a women empowerment programme dubbed "Black Velvet" was organised for female University of Ghana students resident in the hall.

The event, which transpired last Friday, September 30 took place at the central court of the hall.

Two eminent and accomplished Ghanaian women viz. Professor Akosua Adomako Ampofo and Nadia Ismaila were the speakers at the programme.

Professor Akosua Adomako Ampofo, a former director of Institute of African Studies-University of Ghana shared her story with the youngsters and how she rose to a high echelon in the society.

Nadia Ismaila, CEO of British International School Ghana, on the other hand talked about how women can become independent and provide for themselves in lieu of depending on men.

The event was organised by the JCR of University of Ghana Jubilee Hall with support from International Students' Hostel.
