This week, the outspoken gentleman declared his intentions to run for the presidency of the Students' Representative Council (SRC).
In an exclusive interview with GhCampus.com, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo revealed he made the decision to join the presidential race because of the numerous problems students on UG-ACC face.
He believes that his sound policies would help provide a better learning experience to all students.
"Our students over the years have had several challenges with accommodation, transportation and mainly high tuition fees. And initially, I always wanted to pass through the system and leave with my degree, since that is the major aim of most students on campus."
"It is true that no matter how expensive fees may be for us, some of us by grace may be able to afford. But what about the less privileged, do we leave them to defer courses mainly because they can't meet the requirements?"
"Leadership to me is all about impact and servitude. And I have sound policies that can help my people. I don't want generations to come and hold me accountable for my inactions, especially where I had what it takes to help the society and I refused," he said.
One of his policies is to introduce extra tuition for students in order to reduce the number of students who rewrite some of their papers.
"With academics, personally I have never sat for a resit on campus before (and I must thank God for that). But there are students who resit papers on campus, not because they are intellectually handicapped, but mainly because they lack in depth comprehension. My administration will ensure there is a provision for free extra tuition before Interim assessment and before end of semester exam, free of charge to beat down the number of students resitting papers every semester," Nana Addo revealed.
Nana Addo also, as part of his policies wants to secure shuttle for the SRC to generate funds to run the council.
"One of the major problems that our union is facing currently is inadequate finance to bring policies to being. And this I intend addressing by securing a permanent source of income generation aside the main source of income for the union (which is annual students' subscription)."
"I intend securing a shuttle or two (by government allocation) to generate revenue for the SRC, putting less pressure on management structures for money and charging a fare less than the prevailing transport fares for our students as well," he added.
